Staff from NHS Kingston Clinical Commissioning Group, along with colleagues from other CCGs in south west London, attended a prestigious national celebration at Westminster Abbey today to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS.

The NHS turns 70 today and the service paid tribute to NHS staff, patients and medical breakthroughs, which have contributed to the health service over the last 70 years.

Staff joined around 3,000 people at the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, drawn from the NHS and representatives of charities, councils, and other key partners who work with the NHS.

Staff from the CCG who attended the event included Tonia Michaelides, Managing Director, Kingston and Richmond CCGs; Kathryn Yates, Nurse Member, Kingston CCG; Anisha Fraser-Morris, Senior Management Accountant, Kingston and Richmond CCGs; and Sara Phipps, Communications Manager, Kingston and Richmond CCGs.

Celebrations for the NHS milestone birthday are taking place up and down the country, locally, in south west London, Kingston CCG, with the South West London Health and Care Partnership, have launched '70 stars of health and social care'.  With the profile of a different person published every day for 70 days, the south west London NHS 70 stars profile just some of the people caring for patients and working to transform health and social care services across Kingston and south west London.  Read their stories here

Whilst as a CCG, we recognised the long-service of our staff, noting the progress that has been made in health care that has contributed to raising the life expectancy of the general population – and also had a cup of tea and a healthy bake-off challenge.
