Living with a long term condition

Kingston runs a self-management programme to help people living with long-term health conditions to take control of their lives, and to avoid their condition completely dominating their life.

 

Participants on this free course will gain the knowledge, skills and support to effectively manage their condition or conditions and live life to their full potential.

 

 

Expert Patients Programme

The Expert Patients Programme is a free course of six, once weekly, group sessions lasting two and half hours each.  It is designed to give you the tools, skills, support and confidence to become a good self-manager of your condition or conditions.

Topics you will learn

The programme covers a range of topics that participants find helpful when getting to grips with living with their long-term health condition or conditions.  Topics include: 

  • How to manage your symptoms
  • Dealing with pain and fatigue
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Nutrition and physical activity
  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Medication

 

Who the course is for

The programme welcomes anyone living with a long-term health condition or conditions that may impact on their quality of life. 

 

What does it cost?

The course is completely free, and includes free refreshments during each session, a free course handbook and a certificate upon completion.  Your only commitment is to attend all six sessions.
