NHS Health Checks

The NHS health check programme was launched in Kingston in 2009. This programme is open to all people aged between 40 and 74 if they have not been already diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney or heart disease. The free check includes checking up your blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index to identify your risk of being diagnosed with heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease in the next 10 years.

This programme is currently being provided in all Kingston GP practices. It is also provided in ACE Pharmacy, Newman Chemist, Hawk’s Pharmacy and Ritechem Pharmacy.

We've also teamed up with Health-Smart to deliver health checks at various locations around the borough.

If you want advice on health checks speak to your local GP or call the Healthy Lifestyles helpline on 020 8339 8075.

Cardiac rehabilitation

If you've been diagnosed with coronary heart disease or angina or told that you have high risk of developing this condition in the next 10 years you can join one of our cardiac rehabilitation programmes. The free Healthy Hearts Programme offers practical help and advice on managing your condition and it is currently being provided in Tolworth Hospital. Alternatively you can join the Heart Manual programme which is a self-managed cardiac rehabilitation programme for those who are unable or do not wish to join the centre-based course.

The programmes are currently staffed by 2 Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurses and a Physiotherapist.
